Good tolerance to heat, drought, and low-fertility soil. Adapted to various coffee-growing regions in Brazil, with high productivity especially in the early harvests.

This coffee variety was created by crossing two other varieties: one called Catuaí Vermelho IAC 99 and another called Dwarf Icatu. Dwarf Icatu originated from an artificial cross between Coffea canephora var. Robusta, and Coffea arabica var. Bourbon Vermelho, which was then backcrossed with Mundo Novo and Catuaí Amarelo to create a compact, fruit-rich plant suitable for high-density planting and good yields. Breeding was carried out by IAC. Cultivar developed by IDR-Paraná.
